1 Litre of tears.

1 Litre Of Tears.

No joke. Cos' I think I seriously shed about 1 litre of tears watching it.
In fact I'm surprised it wasn't called like 100 Litres of Tears instead~

Ripped this off this Japanese Drama review
(http://www.channel-ai.com/blog/2006/01/01/1-litre-of-tears/)

"This drama is about a girl who was diagnosed with a disease called Spinocerebellar Degeneration when she was 15 years old, and was able to continue her life until her death at the age of 25 years old.

The plot is based on the true story of a Japanese girl named Kito Aya, who had the same disease. She kept writing in her diary to remember her experiences until she could no longer hold a pen. Aya simply wished to live until the end of her life, and the purpose of writing in the diary was to remind herself to not give up. She shed tears many times, at the same time encompassed by the rich love and support from her family, friends, and boyfriend. Her diary '1 Litre of Tears' ? was published after her death, because of its inspiring and courageous message of,
"Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing."
So far, over 18,000,000 copies of her diary have been sold. "

As I watched the first episode I kept thinking how cliche the drama was titled and how it'd be impossible for me to squeeze that much tears from a mere 11 episode long storyline that seemed ratrehashedased to me. In fact I had pretty much a good laugh at the title when YY and Juney told me about it.

But now, I really see why it was titled aptly so.

It wasn't just wet frumpy and fat welts of tears just seemed to be connected to a tap running behind the lead's eyes that aim to force the same effects out of our eyes, but a heartfelt recount of a very very very painful journey and finding meaning in the little things we take granted for.

How muchtrivializelise the miracles of our everyday life.
How blessed we are.

"Can I be selfish ?" ,Aya asked her mother, was another question that kept going on and on in my head. Like to what extent do we reach out for the help of others, when do we push them away for their own good.
I've always felt that as much as I could, I shouldn't be selfish. I shouldn't deprive those I love of what they truly deserve- the better and more beautiful things in life just cos' I desire for them too.

But what if your constant "self-less-ness" hurts those around you?
You pushing them away from when they want to help you the most?
Kinda made me understand that one of the rudest and most painful thing you could do to a loved on in life, is to refuse a gift.

And to find meaning in all that you can do, when day after day, that list of what you can do shortens - together with your life.

Whenever I think about the possibility of having such a cruel disease inflicted upon any of my family and friends or even myself, I get REALLY REALLY REALLY sad.

Hmm...I don't remember feeling this much for a drama serial before. Not at such intensity, not with so much of my heart.

So I'm human afterall.

*Anyway, you can find this Japanese Drama serial on youtube, or Ch 56 if you've got cable, starts on the 28th Nov, every Monday and Tuesday, 11 pm.
