LTC:Losers' Training Camp.HTC: Hide in Toilet and Cry. :D

LTC is OVERRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!

Ok ok, LTC was fun!
Quite unexpectedly lah.
And contrary to common belief, I actually learnt some useful stuff about leadership from it.

For one, I've always thought I was a PURE 'I' when it comes to DISC profiling(some personality test that is SUPPOSEDLY very accurate so much so that even Abang took it twice~-.-"), so it came to quite a surprised when my 25 paged report told me I'm an 'IS'(combination of I and S)

btw, DISC stands for..

D discipline
I nfluencing
S table
C autious

Yup yup, day one was spent doing rubbish personality assessments and an entire day of super long talks, workshops on leadership and other rubbishy games here and there. Kinda dumb, long and dreary cos' of the hours and all, nevertheless it was alright lah.

Stuff like guys being made to find some coins using in a basin of mealworms using their faces, people groping a container of mealworms and frogs for some jelly, that lame facial expressions game and a telematch with ballons, strings, water bombs and all sorts of rubbish.

All of them were highly amusing and fun, can't deny that, but well....we didn't exactly fork out 4 days of our so so so very precious 'holidays' to be amused and have fun eh~

yup yup, learnt quite abit on stuff like the various types of communication styles ,different ways of conflict management and the positive and negative aspects of the differing methods and which is more effective and all.

Day 2 was alot more fun cos' we were all chucked into chartered buses which brought us all the way to Safra Yishun where we were SUPPOSED to do all sorts of fun stuff like going on tree top canopy walks, trust falls, climb the more challenging rockwalls, all of which my group (SIX SENSE! ) didn't get to do cos' it was pouring during our timeslot.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

Instead, we were reslotted to go bouldering instead, which wasn't TOO badcos' we got to see Ms Chok (or Chong or Cheong?) in action. OMG she could boulder around the boulder gym twice if she wanted to while most of us only managed to get through one wall lah! (note: the boulder gym does not consist of merely four walls as opposed to ordinary rooms, there are inverted boulder walls, ceilings, concaved, those with barely any tile on them...etc...etc...)

Damn pro~

I think she's a friend of Mrs Po from NIE...dunno, can't remember~ hahah~

My group was on lunch duty on day 2, so that means giving out all the food to the different groups, how many halal, how many vegetarian and of course saying grace (Catholic school afterall). Wah, my group ah, damn lame lah! When we were supposed to be saying grace, this is how it went,

"In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy spirit...we.......THANK YOU LORD FOR GIVING US FOOD, THANK YOU LORD FOR GIVING US FOOD,THANK YOU LORD FOR GIVING US FOOD~"

Yeah, we sorta sang and clapped~

Super lame lah~

Nevertheless it was fun :):)

Later on, we had a switch over, groups that were having the canopy walk/trust fall/climb cool walls were now to complete a series of rather ridiculous team bonding games/tasks such as forming a square using a 300 M long rope that smelled of smelly cheese while we're all blindfolded and getting everyone to cross lines the height of PAU (though not very tall, but still not easy lah~) without touching the lines and being covered with PLENTY of dirt and mud~

So yup, returned to school barefooted cos' our socks and shoes were drenched and soaked with mud -.-".

OH yeah, whenever we're on a bus somewhere be it from school to Safra or anywhere else and back, Hui Ren and Jessica would ALWAYS sing this song which goes,

"100 green bottles sitting on the wall, 100 green bottles sitting on the wall,

If one green bottle were to accidentally fall,

then there'll be 99 green bottles sitting on the wall,

99 green bottles sitting on the wall, 99 green bottles sitting on the wall,

If one green bottle were to accidentally fall,

there'll be 98 green bottles sitting on the wall..."

And it goes on and on until you reach 0,which really took quite some time for the both of them to reach, at the expense of the eardrums of everyone on the same bus as us~lol~

So to like stop them from continuing with the green bottle song, Ben would occasionally sing "YOU RAISE MEEEEEE UPPPPPPPPP" or some crappy boyband song like "I WANNNNNNNNNNNT IT THAAAAAT WAAAAAY", which isn't much of a relieve from the green bottles song anyway~

Despite so, can't deny them of their entertainment value! hahahaha!

Hmm...later that night we had this DAMN LONG talk from MONSTER Lim(he calls himself that during the Pre-camp) about the next day's trekking activity.

WAHHH~he can really crap man! LTC =Let's Talk Cork and a whole load of crap about leadership preserverance which he gave us all a 3 page long letter on and a 7 page long task sheet each~

Well, I must admit he's one of the most commited teachers I've ever had, but this is really....well...a little over the top eh?

Ah, a damn ON teacher is always better then an OFF one anytime anyway~ -.-"

Day 3.

HAH. Most definitely the toughest day of the entire LTC in most peoples' opinions, even though it wasn't TOO bad lah. All we had to do was to carry a medicine ball,a hula hoop and this HUGE cone with us around the whole of Sembawang.

The medicine ball symbolises the responsibility and burden of being a leader while the other two were just meant to be cumbersome and irritating, both of which played their respective roles very effectively~ -.-"

So there we were, a bunch of blue idiots running around Sembawang looking for stuff like roads with no signs to sing the national anthem on, saying hi to random trees, finding fire hydrant 13148 ( I think that's the number, can't and don't really wanna remember~),hoping around like kangeroos, terrorising HDB blocks with our so-super-off-key-singing-cos'-we're-all-having-sorethroats and a whole lot of other rubbish lah~

Oh yeah, there was this puzzle that's supposed to be a form of mental stress for all of the groups, so much so that SOME groups (which I shan't mention here, but you people can go ask ANDREA and QIBIN and JOYCELYN and ROMMEL ;) ) more then an hour to solve it. Guess how long did my group take?

40 seconds. Flat.

lol~ Damn, we're good~lol~

Hmm...the rest of that day went by without anything anymore mentally/physically taxing as the actitivites we've completed. But I lost one set of PE attire~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Wah lau, one un-muddified,un-soakified and un-smellified ,clean and dry set of PE attire lah! Had to wash my pe attire in the end. GRRRRRRRRR.

Day 4. LAST DAY! hahaa! Day started out with quite a mad rush cos' those who were early for morning physical training ( I was one of them!) were put to pumping position until everyone arrived. Reminded me of my NP days eh,just that LTC wasn't as hiong as NP camps, how nostalgic -.-" ~

Anyway, talking about the physical training. WAH,it was a freakin' joke.

All we did were afew stretching exercises here and there ,chicken dance and this lame sailor game. SUPER LAME. But precisely because it wasn't physically straining, I love group 7~cos' by day 4 my arms and legs and shoulders were very much falling apart already~

After that, the various groups of leaders namely CCA heads,HTCs and councilors were divided to have separate workshops. What did the HTCs do? We discussed the daily challenges that us HTCs ( Hide in Toilet and CRY people, term coined by the J2 HTCs) face, such as, people who refuse to assemble on time, people who don't do their classroom duties and what to do when the key gets misplaced.

Kinda dumb, but let's just say I've picked up a couple of supposedly USEFUL tactics for our classes. HEHE. After Mid yr's you peeps watch out ah, mummy's learnt some interesting war strategies against those who DARE to defy me! lol~

LTC was then concluded with an ending ceremony whereby Sharmaine,Andrea and Qibin san this really nice hymm and we had the whole passing of flame ceremony for leaders and a loooooooong speech by Abang and Father Raj.

Everyone then stayed around for awhile taking pictures, hugging and shaking hands.

While, LTC was fun lah, can't deny that. And although I've lost yet another week worth of studying I met quite a nice bunch of people and I think this camp has sorta prepared and taught me more stuff about being a better leader, like the importance of any leader, what are my weaknesses, what I should do to combat those weaknesses, the importance of communication and effective planning and most importantly, how I can better serve my class.

yup yup.

Ok, after unpacking just 24 hours ago, I have to rush off to pack for my next trip, KHAO LAK,phuket, Thailand this coming Sunday for my OCIP (Overseas Community Involvement Project ) .

Cya peeps....................erm...........soon. Will be back on the 15th! Just in time for me to start REALLY mugging for my MYEs (Mid Year Examinations).

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
